Two years ago
I decided to start a run of
ten numbered European Mounts.
Those two years of effort
produced what you see
in the galleries here:
seven of the promised 10, finished.
I gifted No. 1 to my son,
and displayed No.s 2 thru 8 here
while No.s 9 & 10 are being produced.
I'm hoping this site will create a buzz. This is the first time I've ever tried to produce a unique line of product, or build a website, so I'm truly hoping you're enjoying the effort I've put into this enterprise. I'm always tinkering and adjusting, so if you have a suggestion for improvement, let me know.
Also, of course, if you know anyone that might be interested these European Mounts, please, spread the word. I'd sure appreciate it!
I simply need a place for friends, family and anyone interested to view my work. I have other woodworking interests, but I am literally launching Killa Wood with this collection, and will post galleries of other projects over time.
This being the grassroots effort that it is, I did my own photography too, so don't ask which photographer to avoid. For what it's worth, I always used the same buck skull with the hope that it would make the different plaque sizes easier to see relative to the skull.
To any and all photographers looking at this website, I tip my hat to you; it's harder than it looks! What a learning curve...
In August of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, I bought a CNC machine that I hoped would preserve what remained of my sanity. I built a cabinet to house it, and named the contraption Killa. In the last four years I've taught myself how to design using Vectric, and how to operate a CNC machine. No small task I'll tell you!
In December of 2023 my son asked me to come up with something to display the 8-point white tail deer skull he'd just brought home from a taxidermist. I played around with ideas for a month or so, settled on the idea of using the shape of an arrow, and...after two years of part-time work...here we are.
I recently retired from professional finish carpentry, and started the business Killa Wood afterward. I am launching the enterprise with this Breakout Run of European Mounts. Yes, I do truly enjoy woodworking as a hobby, but as a business it must generate revenue. So, for the present, here's how I am approaching this Breakout Run as it nears completion:
Barring the possibility of an offer so ridiculously high that I cannot refuse it, from a buyer that simply won't wait (I wish!), I do not intend to post my desired prices for, nor sell, any of these pieces before completing the entire set of ten; there is no page for purchasing anything in this website yet. In the interim, if you are interested in a piece, feel free to contact me with an offer for that piece. I want to present them all as one collection, where hopefully the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts.
Minus No. 1 of course - that belongs to my son. And, the bonus is an entirely different animal, so I don't know how it will play out. I'm inclined to include it of course, but the time frame needed for it is what eludes me, so...we'll see. Feel free to tell me what you think!
Until completion of all ten mounts, and (probably) the bonus, all offers will remain unposted. Upon project completion I'm expecting I will post, for each piece, whatever the highest offer was for that piece. I don't believe there are any other pieces on the market like these, so it's impossible to compare them with anything else.
This is NOT an auction. I simply want to evaluate the market by allowing myself the time and latitude to generate and consider offers. Assuming I get any offers at all, I will, when I consider the time appropriate, post the best offers, and extend to all interested parties an opportunity to make a higher offer, or reconsider any offer they have already made. At some point, the sooner the better, I will close and sell, but as I write this I don't know exactly how or when that point will come about; I can only promise that it will, because it must. I'm thinking this approach will allow me to accomplish all three goals while I get the last pieces finished.
So...if you're interested in buying one of these, or you just want to pipe up and tell me what you're thinking, click one of those buttons, and let me know in an email.
In the meantime, you know what I'll be doing, and I'm inviting you to follow along if you'd like!
Forever having a creative spirit, and long being a woodworker, I've always loved making things for myself, family and friends.
Being a Sagittarius, I appreciate a great bow...
and, as a recovering taxidermist, well...
here's the consequence of all that.
